Our continuing education courses are designed to help real estate professionals, planners, and architects increase their awareness of preservation principles & best practices. All of the courses have been approved by the NYS Department of State for Real Estate Continuing Education Credit and by the Western New York Chapter of the American Planning Association for AICP Certification Maintenance credits.
Due to COVID-19, all of the continuing education courses will occur virtually using Zoom. Once registered, participants will receive instructions of how to log-in to the meeting and access course materials.
FALL 2020 COURSES:
Historic Preservation for Real Estate Professionals
Eligible Credit:
5.5 hours Real Estate CE
5.5 hours AICP CM
A comprehensive introduction to preservation principals and best practices, common misconceptions about preservation, and tips for marketing and selling historic properties. While initially designed for real estate professionals, this five-and-one-half-hour continuing education class is relevant to anyone working in planning, architecture, development, or property management as a crash course about the basics of historic preservation needed to best work with the historic built environment.
Cost: $50 for PBN members / $75 General Public (includes a one-year membership to PBN)

Rehabbing While Landmarked
Eligible Credit:
3.0 hours Real Estate CE
3.0 hours AICP CM
This course will outline the Certificate of Appropriateness process and prevent common frustrations and pitfalls experienced by some applicants. The Rehab class is designed for an audience of real estate professionals, tradespersons, as well as property managers and owners. This three-hour course is designed to help one working in planning, architecture, development, tradespersons, or property owners or managers understand the basics of historic preservation designations and how it impacts rehabilitation projects.
Cost: $30 for PBN members / $45 General Public (includes a one-year membership to PBN)

Landmarking and Tax Credits: Historic Preservation Regulations & Incentives

This three-and-one-half-hour course is designed to help one working in planning, architecture, development, and property management understand the basics of historic preservation designations and how they might impact owners.
