Annual Appeal 2025
Please help us raise $15,000 this year by donating below!
Preservation Buffalo Niagara is the region’s only full-service, professionally staffed preservation organization. This year was filled with ACTION! Let’s highlight some of the big wins so you know why you should support our organization this year.
- We successfully stabilized several properties on Buffalo’s East Side, including Juneteenth, Sacred Heart Church at 198 Emslie, Dnipro Ukrainian Center and more.
- We locally landmarked several churches within the City of Buffalo that are at risk of closure or have closed already. We also assisted dozens of churches with the closure announcement to strategize on next steps. As buildings have received their local landmark designations, we have met and assisted them with the next steps – getting it on the National Register of Historic Places so they can access bigger pots of funds.
- We fought to get the Turtle in Niagara Falls determined eligible for historic status. (Thank you, Annie!) We continue to meet with the community group and assist them with the local landmarking efforts. While the local landmark application was denied, we worked with them to build support across WNY and the USA.
- We announced a new local historic district called Brewers Hill. This will be a CONTINUED effort!
- We won a grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation for the JFK Recreation Center. This is a significant boost and will support our efforts in upholding the legacy of Robert T. Coles.
- We had a packed house for our annual Preservation Awards. Thank you to everyone who made it! Congrats to our awardees!!
- We increased our efforts deeper into the East Side and Niagara Falls. Events, programming, meetings – we continued to build momentum and connect the dots.
- We did ten trainings on the Homeowner Historic Tax Credit Program. This helped us reach hundreds of homeowners – many who have done repairs on their homes now that they are aware of the program!
We could go on and on… so much hard work has been done this year! We need to continue this momentum, and it cannot happen without you!
It is annual appeal time. Heritage tourism brings in 658 million dollars a year to WNY. Our stabilization efforts have helped a dozen owners with their buildings. Our work matters. We are asking you to give today to empower Western New Yorkers to champion historic preservation to create a more culturally rich, vibrant, affordable, and sustainable community.
