Preservation Buffalo Niagara hosts a number of special projects focused on particular areas of interest, including:

• The 1850 Project, focused on documenting remaining structures built prior to 1850 in the city of Buffalo
• The Gay Places Initiative, dedicated to documenting, preserving, and celebrating LGBTQ historic sites in Western New York
• 72 Sycamore: The Eliza Quirk House, the future home of Preservation Buffalo Niagara
