Join Us for the Hamlin Park Historic District Virtual Tour on April 28!
On April 28, Director of Preservation Services Christiana Limniatis and Preservation Planner Tabitha O’Connell will regale you with the history of the Hamlin Park Historic District. Named for a former horse-racing track on the site, the Hamlin Park neighborhood was developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and contains an excellent collection of residential properties from this era. It is also an example of the success of the federal Model Cities program, which offered rehabilitation loans to homeowners as an alternative to conventional urban renewal efforts.
Join us from anywhere and virtually take in Hamlin Park as it once was and as it now. Learn about the notable sites within this neighborhood such as local music staple Doris Records and the home of legendary African American architect Robert T. Coles. Register below.
