Join local queer historian Jeffry J. Iovannone on a virtual walking tour of historic sites significant to Western New York’s LGBTQ community. Together, we will explore five sites, including their architectural styles and the local LGBTQ stories attached to them along with the help of materials from the Madeline Davis LGBTQ Archive of Western New York. Dr. Iovannone will also share stories from his research on Buffalo’s gay liberation movement and discuss the importance of LGBTQ historic preservation efforts.
This event and Dr. Iovannone’s blog series Gay Places with Dr. Jeffry Iovannone, is part of PBN’s continued work to provide insight to the LGBTQ history associated with our existing historic built environment- narratives which are frequently forgotten, ignored, or purposely left out.
