Outer Harbor Cultural Landscape Report

As part of the Our Outer Harbor Coalition, PBN joined fellow coalition members for a public meeting on October 29, 2018 to announce the release of the Outer Harbor Cultural Landscape Report and to get other important updates ahead of the November 19th Erie Canal harbor Development Corporation (ECHDC) public meeting.

The Cultural Landscape Report titled The Buffalo New York Outer Harbor as a Cultural Landscapehas been completed by kta preservation specialists. The report details and creates an overview of how the Buffalo Outer Harbor region, once a pristine wetland area, has been developed and used by people, including industry, commerce, recreation, and shoreline modification.

Next steps? The ECHDC, the state agency which owns and is in control of development of most of the outer harbor properties that are public, is in the process of creating a master plan and will make substantial proposals for the next steps at it’s next “public input meeting” scheduled for Monday, November 19, 2018 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at the Lexus Club inside the KeyBank Center. At that meeting the ECHDC will present 3 site plan options for First Buffalo River Marina, Wilkeson Pointe to the Bell Slip, and Terminal B. The public will have an opportunity to comment on the options, provide feedback, and respond to a survey (which will also be available online).
